Where do we go from here? Three Questions Answered

Hey City Mission Fam,

No matter where in the world you are: at a friends house, with your parents, at an Airbnb, we hope and trust that you are safe. This is such a new season and very very confusing to say the least. In a way, we’re like fish out of water. We’ve lost our sense of orientation.  For many of us, even if we are safe, we have a few lingering questions floating around our heads. Now what?

  • Where do we go from here?

  • Where can I get good information?

  • How can I stay productive despite this mess?

We’re with you on this. We all feel it, and this is why we decided to compile a list of resources for you to click through as well as a YouTube video or two that’ll help you despite what’s going on. You CAN do something!

Where do we go from here?

Here’s are two list of resources ready to go for those that need help in anyway or a way to help those in need:

This is one more directed towards mental illness particularly towards the top of the document.:

What about sources of good legitimate information on COVID-19?

This is a great question.

Sign up for the Johns Hopkins University newsletter. They will send regular updates with stats and numbers and compare us to the rest of the world.

This is a podcast about the virus from the BBC. It’s always good to get views from outside the US as to what’s going on throughout the world.

Here is a spreadsheet created by the founder of a successful language company called MimicMethod. He is obviously not a sponsor of this post. He created this chart because a few weeks ago when he created this, no body believed that corona was a big deal just yet and wanted to show people the gravity of the situation. For us at this stage in late march, this is just very sobering to see how things have exponentially multiplied.

Also please don’t go around telling people that drinking water or putting chopped up onions in your room will kill the virus. If only it were that easy.

Here’s an article released by the BBC discussing recent myths about curing the Corona virus:

How do I stay productive despite this mess?

Remote teams CAN and DO work! Some teams around the world have always been remote and never in one sole location. Here is some advice from Simon Sinek’s team. If you don’t know Simon, he is a renown TED Talk speaker and author. You’ve seen his stuff floating around on YouTube before.

This is such a confusing time for all of us. We, mobile people have suddenly been moved indoors and are on lock down. I was reading an edition of the Wall Street Journal from Feb 29th, and it seems like forever ago. In the WSJ people will still skeptical and not acknowledging its power. Don’t worry, I was on that boat too. But here it is.

Current experts are saying we are now 9-10 behind Italy in terms of development.

Here is a video of quarantined Italians speaking to themselves 10 days ago:

Anyways, thanks for being here with us and reading. Even though we are at home there is still room for us to move and do good.

We love you all!
