Our Programs

City Positive Youth is a program dedicated to empowering youth leaders in Elmhurst, Queens, by fostering emotional intelligence, creativity, and a commitment to community impact. Rooted in values of building intentional relationships, promoting community thriving, and prioritizing mental and emotional health, the program equips students to identify local needs and take action to make a difference. By creating a safe, supportive space, City Positive Youth inspires young people to grow personally while contributing to the well-being of their neighborhood.

We achieve our mission through two primary avenues: a six-week summer program, where students meet Monday through Friday to participate in emotional awareness workshops, receive training and resources to plan and execute community-based projects, and engage in intentional team-building exercises to foster a sense of belonging and community. Additionally, to extend the reach of City Positive Youth’s mission and values, we have expanded the program into schools as a club, empowering more students to develop emotional awareness, leadership skills, and a commitment to caring for their neighborhood.

Fundados

In the heart of Elmhurst, NY, many men find themselves living in tents or cardboard shelters, struggling to survive on the streets. These men, often fathers and brothers, dream of providing for their families but face the harsh reality of assimilation in this country, and specifically, limited job opportunities. Fundados steps in to offer more than just food and clothing. It offers a chance to rebuild dignity and self-worth. Through job support, book studies, and essential resources, Fundados helps these men regain their independence, providing the tools they need to break free from homelessness and create a better future for themselves and their families.

Each week at St. James Episcopal Church, these groups of men gather, seeking more than just a meal– they’re looking for a place to feel seen and valued. Here, through the Fundados program, they receive a hot lunch, a much-needed shower, and a chance to connect with caring locals who treat them with kindness and respect. In these moments, they are reminded that they matter. The program isn’t just about meeting dire needs. It’s about restoring dignity and building a community where these men can find hope, support, and the encouragement they need to take steps toward a brighter and more independent future.
