GYLTxMentor

Success is Contagious

We need you!

Most students don’t have access to information or adults who can help them with their worries. Thus, causing them to fall behind and not be prepared for the future.

Why Are Mentors Important

“1 in 3 young people do not have a mentor. The rates are even higher for at risk youth…”

Provide Support

Mentoring will allow students to receive support you won’t typically receive in schools. With a 1:1 setting students can receive academic, career-orientated advice, and direct feedback.

Personal Development

Mentoring encourages students to learn more about themselves. It gives an opportunity to develop personal skills, manage their own learning, and grants the chance for students to become who they want to be.

What is GYLTxMentors

GYLTxMentor is the brand new proragm offered by City Mission. Created for the alumni of GYLT summer program. It’s the chance to offer students the oppurtunity to learn more about their interests or career choice from a mentor. In hopes that we better prepare high school students for their journey. The program will allow both local and non-local community members to meet and interact with each other. With a 1:1 ratio mentors and mentees will meet once a month for 3 months to connect.

“Mentoring is about listening to people, helping them go over what the issues are and how to clarify ways to deal with any problems that may arise.”

— Mildred Dresselhaus
